I know my question isn't about an mr2 yet i was hoping someone can help me with my 1zz to 2zz swap.
Im having problems with the ecu that i got for my new swap and the wiring. To begin, my car is a corollai bought a full swap kit from japan that was in a Celica GT-S the 2ZZ-GE and the ecu that came with the kit is suppose to the one that matches the engine. When i came to pluging everything i noticed that the wires coming from the engine plug in perfectly yet those of the corolla dash do not.
My question is: are there plug n play adapters for this type of issue that i can purchase or am i using the wrong ecu?? VelocialPM Interesting as I've done several ecu swaps, including a 2zz in a 98 corolla As far as I know, there is no plug n play adapter for this situation.
The restyled car was manufactured since till The airport of the model was Volvo V90 Cross Country. The manufacturer made available changes to exterior.
Start by making sure the ECU you received is for a manual. Now being you are putting a ECM from one model into another, the wire pinouts are going to be different even if the connector snaps in. Make sure you move the pins to the right location before turning the key 'on' or putting power to everything.

What you're doing can be done, and everything will work, but you need a decent understanding of what you're trying to do. You might need to find a local mechanic versed in Toyota engine management to help you out.
Also, without the tune, I was not able to make off in  like I can now. You may not like it, that's why there are many other seat occupants as well.
BTW, what country are you in and what year is the donor Celica? I'll see what I can come up with. A Corolla and Mr2 have near identical ECM's The only wiring I touched was at the ECM connectors, and I'm running the stock harness, both body side and engine side, with the addition of two grounds and three 'lift' wires I ran through the loom.
